As I said earlier, the opening tour was fantastic. It’s as if each area of the resort was designed to be the centerpiece.
That being said, here’s some pictures:
The exterior:
And a shot of the crowd, seconds after the doors opened:
Of course, I got a few shots of the carpet as well–would you expect any less?
I’d definitely visit this place the next time you are in Vegas.
Now that I’ve had a few hours to think and sleep, here’s some more reflections:
1. If I had to sum Wynn Las Vegas up in one phrase, it would be: “Luxury and sophistication without being staid or ostentatious.”
2. Doesn’t anyone get dressed up anymore? I just don’t see why someone would go to the opening of the world’s most expensive casino resort wearing shorts.
3. The doors opened at 12:05 or so. By 12:10, a patron had stopped me and asked me to look at her slot machine (she was having trouble getting her ticket out). Every time I wear a suit on a casino floor, people automatically assume that I work there. The funny thing is, I was so overawed by Wynn’s pre-opening employee pep talks, word of which has been circulating, that I forgot that I didn’t work for him and found her a slot attendant.
4. I liked the music, which, like the decor, was very contemporary.
