I’m teaching a new class in Spring Semester here at UNLV: GAM 395, The History of Casinos.
Here’s the course summary from the flyer:
Get three credits to learn about the exciting history of casinos in Las Vegas and around the world. Topics include:
– Gambling before casinos
– Organized crime and casinos
– How Nevada got casinos
– The growth of the Las Vegas Strip
– The rise of Asian casinos
– Pioneers like Bugsy Siegel, Benny Binion, Jay Sarno, Kirk Kerkorian, Stanley Ho, Sheldon Adelson, & Steve Wynn
The class meets Tuesday, from 4 to 6:45 PM. If you are a UNLV student and are interested in taking the class, you can register via MyUNLV.
The total cost of the books is under $50, and with four fun assignments, a midterm, and a final, it’s not too much work. And FYI: I give students all the questions for the test before the test, so there’s not chance of missing your grade because of a trick question that you didn’t see coming.
It should be a fun class.
